1. Salamanca

Famous for its sandstone architecture, the thriving city lies around 200 kilometers from Madrid. The travel time of around 1-5 to 2 hours can make you reach this majestic destination which is so pleasing to roam around. Salamanca has also got some of the beautiful bars to chill around and have great evening sipping wines or just of you wish to roam around the beautiful plaza Mayor and enjoy delicious ice cream.
 

2. Segovia

Segovia is just 30 mins by train from Madrid and is famous for Roman Aqueduct. It’s one of the best place to visit for a one day travel however if you have got some time in hand it is recommended to stay overnight and enjoy the nightlife of the city. You can also visit the Alcazar which is a 12th century castle somewhere close to what you see in Disney.
 

3. Cuenca

Around a journey of one and half hour towards the south east of Madrid lies Cuenca. The place with great historical importance and the ruins of the medieval castle. The town is famous for its hanging houses and the building clinging to the cliffs above the river Huecar. It is a peaceful place to walk around and just have a relaxing getaway.
 

4. Cordoba

Around 2 hours from the south of Madrid lies the city of Cordoba known for majestic Mosques and city’s cathedral. The city offers a very clean and chic vibe with white buildings and picturesque locations. The best way to relax, chill around and have long walks across the city.
 

5. Alicante

Around 2.5 hours from Madrid, Alicante is a pretty port near Mount Benacantil, a hill where St Barbara Castle lies. There is a beautiful beach of El Postiguet which is just at a walkable distance from the town. You can take a tram ride to experience the nearby beaches and also take an evening stroll across the marina and enjoy a chilled out vacay at some of the beat bars and the eateries around the town. What better way to indulge in some self therapy than to just be away from all the chaos and so close to the nature.
